Mental Health Oriented Programs
Recognizing Symptoms of Mental Illness
Recognizing the Symptoms of Mental Illness is designed to help individuals recognize the signs and symptoms of mental illness and refer them to the appropriate person for help. More specifically, the program is designed to de-stigmatize the negative connotation associated with law enforcement and other organizations/entities.
Emotional Resiliency
Emotional Resiliency examines the underlying stresses of life and work and how to first recognize those stressors and manage them effectively using my own personal life challenges. I encourage a healthy way of coping with stress.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Oriented Programs
Understanding Implicit and Unconscious Bias
Understanding Implicit and Unconscious Bias helps individuals to understand how their biases affect the way people are treated based on perceptions. The training also makes people aware of the differences and the similarities racism and bias.
Cultural Competency
Cultural Competency program is designed to show participants in the workshop to identify their own personal biases, cultural differences as a better way of understanding other cultures, and coexisting. It will also familiarize individuals participating with traditions of various cultures that sometimes act as stumbling blocks for communication.
Be The Change Initiative
Be the Change Initiative is an initiative created by Mr. Blackburn to promote racial diversity within law enforcement, to rid inherent racial bias from police departments and help departments reflect the racial make-up of the community. By doing so, racism within the department could be eliminated and inflammatory incidents can be reduced.
Workplace Oriented Programs
Verbal De-Escalation
Verbal De-Escalation is a program specifically designed to minimize, reduce, mitigate, or more importantly prevent conflict from occurring. Individuals are to be trained to recognize when a conflict is about to occur and are taught techniques to De-Escalate conflict.
Basic Communication
Basic Communication program is ‘just that,’ going back to the premises that communication is basic, yet intimate. Also, that effective communication can never be facilitated without a real and productive exchange between listening for understanding and meaning.
Job Interviewing Skills
Job Interviewing Skills teaches participants of the training to recognize verbal and non-verbal cues presented by the interviewer. Based on the cues, the participants will give more effective responses. Which will in turn, enhance their chances of getting the job.
Parenting Workshops
Parenting Workshops focus on three core areas: (1) Positive Parenting through Communication Skills-this program teaches parents how to communicate positively with their children. (2) Building Blocks for Self Esteem-allow parents to use positive affirmations to reinforce desired behavior. (3) Discipline Without Dad/Replacing Absentee Parents- teaches parents to use alternative forms of discipline with their children
Urban Communication
Urban Communication programs help teachers or trainers to dispel the barriers between young people in today’s culture (Generation X, Y, Z) and adults. This program will utilize current urban cultural icons, terms, and sayings to assist adults in understanding young people. It will also allow the individuals trained to better communicate with young people in today’s society.
Communication Oriented Programs
Leadership Training
Leadership Training is designed to empower the workshop participants so they know they are leaders whether they have chosen to be or not. This program will consist of identifying current and past leaders in society, and comparing and contrasting the skills the trainees have that are “just as good if not better”.
Customer Service
The Customer Service program is designed to emphasize the concepts of what it means to be a servant and to whom we serve. It also renews the value of the customer as the foundation of any entity.
Respect In The Workplace
Respect in the Workplace is designed to create an environment in the workplace that perpetuates peace and harmony amongst employees. Participants will be taught how to be mindful of conversations and comments that may be perceived as disrespectful. Also, how to not make other employees uncomfortable by instigating, engaging, or participating in such conversations.
Workplace Violence Prevention
Workplace Violence Prevention is intended to assist individuals with identifying potential threats within an origination, whether it is between management, other employees, or an outside hazard. Knowing how to handle the situation or impending situation in a safe and professional manner.
Classroom Management
Classroom Management allows teachers to set a standard for learning as well as a fun environment starting with the first day of school. Classroom management does not involve shouting or screaming but sound strategic tactics that will encourage students to want to create an environment more conducive to learning.
Loss Prevention
Loss Prevention will train participants to identify retail fraud and to safely approach and apprehend suspects. It will also teach the necessary skills participants need to interview suspects.
Positive Policing In Pessimistic Times
Positive Policing in Pessimistic Times will demolish the pervasive We vs Them mentality that has prevailed for years in law enforcement and create a We Need Them mentality through perception exercises, communication techniques, cultural competency training and dual training between the community and law enforcement simultaneously.
Teaching Strategies
Teaching Strategies will allow and assist the trainers and instructors with developing power-points, lesson plans, outlines, and classroom management. Participants will also learn how to better engage their students.
